As I type this update, my TV is on in the background. For the past few hours the British Parliament has been debating if we should authorise airstrikes on ISIS in Syria. I am far from a pacifist, however, I urge you to consider this following point. It is my view that successive Governments have been very quick to send people to the frontline. They do not however, appear to be so quick to support them when they come home. I am predicting a huge surge in PTSD cases over the next few years despite what the MOD may try to tell you. If we can find the money to send them to war we MUST find the money to look after them properly when they return. Enough is enough! What do you think? David Bentley-Miller CEO POBL

How true is this?
We need your advice and views POBL People!
We have started to be contacted by elected Politicians of various political persuasions to chat to them about our work and what makes us different. The key point here is THEY have contacted US. We see this as a major step forward. You will all be aware that POBL is staunchly apolitical. We do not rely on them for our money. However, POBL belongs to YOU. Not some overpaid Charity management team sitting in swanky offices. Therefore, if there was a question you would ask a Politician about mental health in Wales, what would it be? We are happy to ask the questions and report back to you. Similarly, if you know an elected representative that you feel we should ask questions of, let us know. (Happy to accept them by private message to preserve your anonymity on the main page of course)
We look forward to hearing what sort of things you good folks would like some answers on. Its a great opportunity. Lets start getting some answers and lets ask some of the questions perhaps others are afraid to ask! Thanks. David Bentley-Miller CEO POBL X
Who could fail to have been moved by the recent tragic events in Paris? It seems that not a day goes by without some tragedy or another filling our screens and computers. At present it seems the world is full of negativity. Many people have contacted us to say that at times like this, such events can cause them to go into a downward spiral of low mood and depression. Our message at POBL is a simple one. You MUST look after YOUR OWN mental wellbeing above all else. If that means turning off the TV and computer so that you dont have to see such negativity then so be it. It is NOT a sign of weakness by you or avoidance! It is actually a very smart thing to do and a strength if you can identify the things that can set you off. Never feel guilty about doing this. Yes, the world can be a cruel place. POBL are not one of those 'touchy feely' type Charities that think the world is all motherhood and apple pie and smelling in incense. Far from it. We are very much in the present, and REAL world. But it is important to remember, the press will usually only bring you the bad stuff. They never report planes ,landing safely do they? They are in the business of selling copy. There is far more good in the world than evil and we want you to try your hardest to remember this. YOUR personal mental wellbeing and that of your family is far more important than what you read in the press and see on the TV. David Bentley-Miller CEO POBL x
